You can't go wrong with:
Return to Wild America, Scott Weidensaul's latest brilliant contribution to nature writing - we're particularly
partial to Chapter Nine.
Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore - warped, twisted, and absolutely hilarious.
Dune - one of SW's all-time favorites. The sequels and prequels are pretty good, but there's just something
about the original...
Any music by Richard Thompson
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - you really must get the deluxe DVD and enjoy all the extras, including the
French knight overdubbed in Japanese with English subtitles.
Keeping your cats indoors. Bart showed up in our driveway one blisteringly hot day in June 2004 - hungry, thirsty,
and scared. We took him in and have kept him indoors ever since (except for the few minutes spent chasing him around when
he's snuck out). If we let him roam and he managed to avoid being hit by a car, ripped to shreds by the neighborhood Rottweilers,
or eaten by a coyote, he'd be committing massive carnage on the local wildlife populations. We love him, but he's a killer,
and as his "owners" we're responsible not only for keeping him safe from harm but for keeping him from doing harm to other
creatures.

Young Bart watching birds through the window - safer for them, safer for him.
We're not too crazy about:
Watch this space - more to come.
