Thanks to all my friends for helping me with the appearance and content of this web site. A special thanks to the Pirate team offices for their assistance also. Glenn's Pirates Page is a personal web page that I maintain to help record the rich history of the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Team.

• Pirate Hall of Fame Members: Review a short biography on each Pirate Hall of Famer, his lifetime statistics, and a photo of him and his Cooperstown plaque.
• Other Pirate Greats: Here is a list and short bio of great Pirate players through the years who haven't quite made it to the Cooperstown Hall of Fame Page. There are 31 players who show up on the Pirates' Top 10 Records for hitting and pitching, but are not in the Hall of Fame.
• The Near Great Pirate Players: These are the players who you remember from your childhood; they were everyday players for the Bucs who were around for many years, but they'll never be considered for Cooperstown. These are the "Near Greats", but we remember them fondly.
• An All-Time Pirate Line-Up: If you want to see the fur fly among Bucco fans, have them try to agree on an All-Time Line-up. I've provided a few ideas here, but send me your own line-up cards too.

• The Official Pirates Home Page: Get the latest news, game reports, and press releases. The Regular Season schedule and Promotions are here; Stop by the Pirate shop and pick up a few items, or get ticket information.
• Nando: the Pirates Page: Game Summaries, box scores, Pirate-specific news articles, and individual stats. Recent news pictures; Roster information, attendance summaries. MLB News features
• ESPN: They have an ESPN Pirates Clubhouse Team Page that has quick updates on the game in progress, plus links to some other team-specific info. Their ESPN Scoreboard is also a source for previews, post-game box scores and Recaps; their new Game Tracker provides near-real time game broadcasts.
• Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (Pirates page): They also offer local headlines.
• Tribune-Review: Sports Page (now known on the web as Pittsburgh Live or Pirates Live); Here's what another local paper is saying about the Bucs. Check the local headlines for additional news.
• Beaver County Times: beat writer John Perrotto covers the Bucs, their minor leagues, and is a contributing writer to Baseball America.
• RealPittsburgh.Com: get another local angle on the Bucs.
• USA Today: They have a Pirates Page; They have a good daily commentary on the Bucs (in season), plus box scores and more. NL Team Notes
• Out of Town Newspaper links can be found at Fantasy Sports's site. You can read what the other team's paper is saying about the Bucs.
• Major League Baseball: This is the "Official MLB" site for photos, stories and more.
• Sportsline (CBS) has a Pirates page. They are an excellent source for a one page game summary (line score, recap, and box score) off of their Scoreboard. Stats (sortable), Schedule, and Season game-by-game log.
• MLB Insider (Inside Pitch). A weekly wrap-up on the team. It is updated weekly (on Friday).
• The Sporting News: has a Pirates Page with regular updates (on Friday), a TRS seating diagram and more.
• Sports Network: Pirate-specific news articles, in addition to individual stats, an injury report and more. Their best team information is in the "Team Directory": Ground Rules for TRS, Coaching history, and a list of Retired Numbers, Hall of Famers, award winners, and season-by-season records. Check out their in depth game previews on the Scoreboard; it includes a pitcher's report card, matchup, lineup, injuries, weather, and odds.
• Twin Killing, The Bill Mazeroski Story; a web site by the author. The site opens with an animated .gif of Maz turning the pivot at second, includes a .wav file of a call of his Series-ending homer in '60, and includes quotes, pictures and bios of the 23 players and coaches interviewed in person for the book.
• John Skilton's Baseball Links has just about everything you could want: stat sites, MLB teams, the Minors, College baseball, International baseball, collectibles, newsgroups and more. This is the best site to start your search for any web sites connected with baseball. Glenn's Pirates Page was selected as the baseball link of the week at John Skilton's Baseball Links July 6 - 12, 1997.
• Baseball Hall of Fame: Here is your ticket to the Cooperstown Museum. Phone Number: 607-547-7200. Around the Horn is a monthly wrap-up from Cooperstown. I have put together a short summary of the Rules for Hall of Fame Elections. It should answer most of your questions.
• CNN/SI Sports Page: Read the Baseball Headline Stories. Includes game summaries, Standing, Stats etc... The have a CNN/SI Pirates Page with stats and several other team-specific info. CNN also lists team rosters from each year to help in your historical research. The also have a CNN Scoreboard to check on games in progress, even minor league scores at the lowest level.
• Card Collectors Company: They have a reprint of the famous Honus Wagner card, plus a book devoted to each team. The advertisers said, "This book has pictures of all the regular issue cards made by TOPPS from 1952 thru 1986." It is advertised at $4. I received my copy and it was well worth the cost. Each year has a couple paragraph summary of the team and the team leaders. It has 1 1/4" by 1 3/4" reproductions of the player baseball cards for each year. It sure brought back a lot of memories for me.
• Black & Gold Autographed Sports Memorabilia: Pirates, Steeler, and Penguin items.
• Point Four Sports: has a page dedicated to Forbes Field Memorabilia. Build It yourself books, posters, prints, note cards and more.

• Baseball Weekly from USA Today has changed its name and format in 2002 to Sports Weekly (on news stands or by subscription).
• Baseball America Online: You'll find the top stories from Baseball America here - the top publication for minor league news and notes.
• Total Baseball: MLB's official reference book is now on-line. Look up player lifetime stats, team histories, Records, Awards, Post Season play.....
• Sean Lahman's Baseball Archive: individual records, team records, attendance archives, award winners, and much more. A site packed with info. Pirate fan Gene Carney produces Notes from the Shadows of Cooperstown; it's a bi-weekly trip down the path of everything baseball.
• Ballparks, by Munsey & Suppes; they have put together a collection of information on all current Major League Parks, plus information on some old Classic parks (including Forbes Field) and the scoop on the future parks.
• Baseball Prospectus Online: regular updates from Clay Davenport, Gary Huckabay and crew.
• Baseball Reference: Stats and commentary.
• Baseball Library: get day-by-day results for every team, every season from 1900 through 2000.
• Retrosheet: the web source for boxscores of long-past games
• Pure Baseball: News, Views, and Depth Charts.
• SABR: the Society for American Baseball Research. The local Pittsburgh area Forbes Field Chapter has added a web site.
• David Marasco has a page devoted to the Negro Leagues. He has written an account of the first game at Pittsburgh's Greenlee Field (plus much more).
• Louisville Slugger Museum: the bat that Honus swung.
• World Wide Web of Sports: Look for several links to individual team web sites.
• Yahoo Search for Baseball Pages: Look here for links to MLB, Minors, College teams, Fantasy Leagues and more.
• Rec.Sport.Baseball News Group FAQ: From UseNet News Groups.
• Baseball Immortals: by Lee Sinins; examines the alltime greats of the game, and a few who have been excluded from Cooperstown.

• Pacific Coast League: Check out the Pirates Class AAA team, The Nashville Sounds (at their official site - see the player profiles). Follow the Sounds on Windows Media Player at WNSR Radio. Nashville stats can be found at Pirateball (among other sites). ESPN's schedule provides links for box scores. ESPN also provides Sounds batting and pitching stats. Check the local paper, The Tennessean for articles in season. Minor League Baseball Sounds Web Site provides some information on the team. The Sounds have been affiliated with the Bucs since 1998. The current agreement extends through the 2004 season.

• Eastern League: Check out the Pirates Class AA team, The Altoona Curve. Altoona was awarded a new franchise for the 1999 season. The Curve games are on Real Audio at WPHB Radio. Curve Stats are available at Pirateball. ESPN provides a Curve schedule with box score links. The local newspaper, the Cambria News, might provide some Curve coverage. The Curve is named in honor of the famed "Horseshoe Curve" in the railroad tracks five miles from the city of Altoona. The Minor League Baseball Curve Web Site provides some information on the team. The Curve has been affiliated with the Bucs since the 1999 season. The current agreement extends through the 2006 season.

• Carolina League: Check out the Pirates Class A(+) team, The Lynchburg Hillcats.. The HillCats are broadcast on WBRG radio, 1050 AM, or try today's opponent's web site for a web feed of the broadcast. HillCat Stats are available at Pirateball. USA Today offers HillCat batting and pitching Stats as well as box scores. The Lynchburg News & Advance carries HillCat articles. The HillCats have been affiliated with the Bucs since 1995. The current agreement extends through the 2008 season.

• South Atlantic League: Check out the Pirates Class A team, the Hickory Crawdads - a new affiliate for the Bucs in 1999. The Crawdad games are on Windows Media Player at WMNC Radio (FM 92.1). Hickory Stats are available at Pirateball. USA Today provides Sally League batting and pitching Stats, as well as box scores. The Crawdads have been affiliated with the Bucs since the 1999 season. The current agreement extends through the 2002 season.

• New York-Penn League: Check out the Pirates new Short Season Class A(-) team the Williamsport Crosscutters. Check out daily stories, in season, at the Daily Item. The Williamsport Sun-Gazette carries Crosscutter stories also. FanLink also provides a Williamsport team site. Williamsport has been affiliated with the Bucs since 1999. The current agreement extends through the 2004 season. The NY-Penn League starts in mid-June and features advanced rookies and some newly drafted college players. USA Today has Box scores, and is a source for batting and pitching stats.

• Rookie League: Gulf Coast League: Pirates; here's a photo of the Bucs Spring Training complex in Bradenton. Follow the Bucs newest prospects at USA today: Box scores, batting and pitching stats are available. The Bradenton Herald has a web site; it might have some GCL Pirate news in season.

The Bucs also maintain working relationships with several International Leagues:

• Hyundai Unicorns: of the 8-team Korean Baseball Association; they have trained at Bradenton since 1993, but the Bucs signed a working agreement in 1998 to exchange players and coaching/scouting information. Two Korean pitchers and a coach were in the Bucs system for 1998. Financial problems in Korea have put this relationship on hold.
• Dominican Summer League (Rookie): Santo Domingo Pirates.
• Venezuela Summer League: The Bucs co-sponsored a team (Montalban) with the Rockies and Twins in 1998. In 1999, look at Chivacoa for Pirate players and coaches (along with some Devil Ray rookies).

General Minor League Sites:

• Minor League Baseball: Formerly, National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues, a good starting point for info on any of the Minors.
• Pirateball: provides a weekly summary of the minor league stats (updated twice a week).
• Nando's Minor League Site: Nando has expanded their coverage to include all minor league levels.
• USA Today: this is a great site for updates from around the minors. Box scores, standings, league leaders and more from each level. Check Today's Scoreboard for in-game line scores.
• Baseball America has a listing for all of yesterday's box scores.
• ESPN: has a good Minor League Scoreboard for the high minors; it has line scores on games in progress and box scores after the game.
• CNN/SI: has a Minor League Scoreboard for teams through out the organization.

• Cecil Greek's Pirate Page: This is the source for pictures of Pirates from today and yester-year. Do you have a favorite Pirate player? There is a good chance you'll find his picture here. You will find several links to specific pictures on Cecil's page throughout my Pirates Pages. Thanks Cecil for your contribution to my Pirates Page.
• Matthew K. Blair: he has a Clemente page and has listed several Pirate teams of their respective decades. He has added a Pirates Hall of Fame Page which is very good.
• Mike Emeigh's Baseball Page: offers some unique research information on Situational Offense, Bequeathed Runners, Run Scoring Patterns and several good baseball links too.
• Erik Johnson's Pirates Replay Page: look here for a simulation season that matches some of the great Pirate teams of all time against each other in head-to-head competition.
• Rory Regan's Pirates History Page: Rory digs back to the history of the franchise and its best players of each era. The website is dedicated to Pirates pitcher Babe Adams.
• Caleb's Pittsburgh Pirates Page is back with a collection of music files of famous Pirate/baseball songs from "Beat 'em Bucs" to "CenterField". Plus, Caleb has notes from numerous ballparks he has visited.
• We're rootin' for the Pirates: Scott Salvatore released this song in 2000 as a tribute to the Bucco franchise.
• Pirate Stats: by Justin Kubatko. Career leaders, and year-by-year Pirate leaders in every category.
• The Pittsburgh Pirates Web Ring: here is a list of the fan pages registered in the Pirates Web Ring.
• Unofficial Pirate Message Board: stop by to see what Pirate fans are talking about, or leave a message. This board replaced Eric Sokol's old site.

You will be added to a list of around 150 Pirate fans who trade stories, stats, ideas, questions, answers, and opinions about the Bucs from across the country. This is a friendly list and a great forum for the intelligent exchange of ideas about the Pirates. It is an informal email discussion group which discusses issues relevant to the Pittsburgh Pirates. List volume is about 10-30 messages daily. One fan said, "I truly enjoy the insightful, informed, and passionate discussions that abound on this list." Another person said. "I think you just threw a life-preserver to a drowning Burghball fan."
