Artist's Statement...

"Among the artists I admire and who have been an influence in the subject matter I enjoy painting are the Impressionists, Gustaf Klimpt, Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Hopper, and Richard Schmid.  It is the individuality of these artists that inspires me the most.  I want my art to reflect who I am just as their art is an expression of their personalities and the manner in which they view the world around them.  My art depicts the world in which I live.  It is a reflection of where I live, what I see, and the people I meet.  My experimental art evolves from feelings and the inner soul."

Oil on Canvas

Eggs and Onions was an exercise in painting white objects.  I often select food items to paint since they are readily available and represent a variety of shapes, colors, and textures.

Gone from Highway 76

11"x14" Original Oil on Canvas SOLD

South Carolina Highway 76 is a road that I travel daily.  The vistas are very familiar to me.  One day as I was passing the deserted house depicted in this painting, I noticed a land for sale sign and saw some workmen clearing the area of trees.  It was inevitable that this old structure would be demolished.  I knew that I had to immortalize it - if for no other reason than to keep it permanently in my memory.  Now it's gone from Highway 76.
