What is AZ DEC?
We are a professional organization of
teachers, therapists, early interventionists, psychologists,
related services professionals, para-educators, administrators, child
caregivers, and family
members concerned about developmentally appropriate early
education
opportunities and
enhanced quality of life for infants, toddlers, and young
children with
“special” or exceptional
needs. We are affiliated with The DEC Division
of
The Council for
Exceptional Children, the
largest professional organization of
individuals
who teach, care and
advocate for children
with special needs and their
families.
Joining AZ DEC
To join with other DEC members in
Arizona, you must first join The Council for
Exceptional
Children. Please click here for information on
how to do that and for
the dues structure.
AZ DEC
has as its purpose the advancement of education and welfare of
individuals with exceptionalities, birth through eight years of age
and their families, and the promotion of related education,
scientific, and charitable purposes on their behalf.
AZ DEC
is dedicated to promoting policies and practices that support
families and enhance the optimal development of all young
children, especially those with all types of exceptionalities that
span the range of potential in all developmental domains, and those
at-risk for future developmental challenges.
