Illinois Central Gulf 70 Ton Hoppers 1978-1981
In 1978, the Illinois Central Gulf started an extensive rebuild program for its 70 ton 3-bay hopper fleet. Hundreds of hoppers were cycled through the Centralia, IL shops over the next 3 years, receiving a new lease on life. These cars would serve under ICG coal operations for another 20 years. The cars were rebuilt in 3 distinct batches, with each batch receiving the then-current simplified ICG paint scheme.
These cars lasted through the 1980s and well into the late 1990s. This decal set includes all of the data you need to decal two cars. Extra lettering is included as well.
Appropriate car numbers are:
ICG 340000-340399 (1978) "Thick" style ICG with emblem
ICG 340400-341099 (1980) 'Thick" style ICG without emblem
ICG 341100-341399 (1981) "Thin" style ICG without emblem
A decal diagram is included. This set is printed in white.
