Gulf Mobile & Ohio Coil Car 1968+

The GM&O received 10 Evans Coil Cars in 1968. Used for steel coil loading, they were numbered GM&O 75025-75034.

The entire car (and hoods) were painted dark green and had black trucks. Examples of these cars in full GM&O lettering lasted through the ICG era into 1985. Examples in GM&O paint with ICG reporting marks have lasted into 2004.

A detailed lettering diagram is included. This set includes enough lettering for 1 car and is printed in black and white. You provide the ACI label; the decal set provides all other lettering. COTS plates, later GBSR stenciling, and ICG era re-weigh dates are also included to model a post-merger car. The lettering diagram illustrates the as-delivered stenciling.

The upcoming HO Scale Red Caboose Evans Type IV Coil Car with angled hoods will be an excellent starting point for modeling this series of cars. The GM&O cars had truck mounted brakes, instead of the Red Caboose kit's body mounted brakes. Otherwise, the Red Caboose car will be very accurate. In N-Scale, Red Caboose has already released a Type IV car with angled hoods.

A big thank you to Mark Evans and Art Richardson for their assistance in getting this decal set done. Thanks guys!
