The Drunken Bard Song

I, said the robin sitting on a tree,
I shall provide for my love and me.
I'll get me a spear and a shirt of mail
And ride on a horse with a long black tail.
Hey, hey, a long black tail,
Hey, hey, a long black tail,
Hey, hey, a long black tail!
Oh sing of a horse and a bird in mail!

I, said the rabbit in the green hedgerow,
I'll learn me to shoot a stout longbow.
And then when the fox comes a-hunting by,
Oh I will let my arrows fly!
Hey, hey, my arrows fly,
Hey, hey, my arrows fly,
Hey, hey, my arrows fly!
Oh sing of the rabbit when the fox comes by!

I, said the mouse in the great green field,
I'll proudly bear a sword and shield.
And when the cats come in the night
I will take up my arms and fight!
Hey, hey, I will fight,
Hey, hey, I will fight,
Hey, hey, I will fight,
And make the cats run off in fright!

I, said the rooster fair of face,
I'll get my good wife a gown of lace.
And when the cold snow begins to fall,
Then I will buy her a matching shawl!
Hey, hey, a matching shawl,
Hey, hey, a matching shawl,
Hey, hey, a matching shawl!
Oh sing of the chickens and their clothes and all!

I, said the sheep drinking from the pool,
I'll learn me to weave my own fine wool.
And then when they have shorn me bare
I'll still have something warm to wear!
Hey, hey, warm to wear,
Hey, hey, warm to wear,
Hey, hey, warm to wear!
Oh sing of the sheep with a coat to wear!

I, said the bard as she sang this song,
Oh I have sung on far too long!
For won't you say and don't you think
I must have had too much to drink?
Hey, hey, too much to drink,
Hey, hey, too much to drink,
Hey, hey, too much to drink!
Please, sang the bard, give me one more drink!
