Hi! We are Kate and Dale Ankrom. We are in
our mid 50’s and have been married for 36 years. We both come from fulfilling careers in professional backgrounds. Dale retired as a Lt. Col. from the US Air Force, in communications and command and
control systems. Afterward, he worked for several years as a contractor to the
Air Force, with the Dynamic Research Company. Kate was a Registered Nurse for
over 20 years, and following Dale’s career path, worked in many different places, specializing in Critical Care, Acute
Dialysis, and Therapeutic Apheresis.
We retired in June 2003 and started full-time RVing in our 2003 Teton 39' 5th wheel with a Freightliner medium duty
truck. We have been campers for our whole marriage, from tent and backpacking
to a succession of three motorhomes to our current 5th wheel. We were very involved in Scouts and youth activities
for many years. We love to hike, bike, and get to know each of the communities
we visit. We enjoy visiting the National Parks, and we REALLY enjoyed following
the Lewis & Clark Trail in 2004. In early 2004, we volunteered for 3 months at a Bureau of Land Management Park
in Taos, New Mexico, as campground hosts and doing wildlife management studies. In 2005 we volunteered for 2 months
with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Somerville Lake, Texas doing trail maintenance and working as interpreters to the Scouts
and other youth visitors to their parks. Kate is an avid reader, and Dale
enjoys golf and fishing. We both love the outdoors and visiting new places, and are truly enjoying this full-time RVing
life-style!
We have
two sons, both married, and 2 grandsons. Our youngest son, Mike, was a Marine
and served in Iraq during the war. He is now a civilian and works as a diesel mechanic.
Mike and his wife Jamie live in Williamsburg, VA, and have been married 3 years.
Our eldest son, David, was a Marine for 10 years, but is now an Air Traffic Controller near Denver, Co. Dave, his wife Christy, and their two
sons, Nicolas, 14, and Tony, 12, live in Estes Park, CO.
