UPDATE ON "MAX"
Max has gone on a new adventure.   Max now is a resident of Iowa.  He is getting used to his colder surroundings, however is still a snuggle bunny at night.  You would not ever know that Max only has 3 legs, as he runs after squirrels and has the normal cattle dog trot.  He only hops when he is on slow mode inside the house.    Max's adventure continues.  Will update more as I hear from his owners and get more photos when they find their digicam.
UPDATED OCTOBER, 2006

MAX WAS ADOPTED ON

JULY 22, 2006.

MAX met his new owners today and he left the Foster Home and headed out to his new home with his new owners and his new ACD companion to pal around with.  This is so great.

I want to thank everyone who has called and their concern for this amazing 3 legged ACD. What a great rescue.

MAX was rescued by a really neat group of people at "Buddies for Life".

MAX now has a new lease on life, which is what we all wanted for him.

"MAX", Australian Cattle Dog is now on a National Website of 3 legged dogs called Cassie's Club. This is a story of another 3 legged dog adopted from another shelter as she was ready to be put down. Max is on Page 114 of this website. Please see Max's listing and read the other wonderful stories.

MAX ALSO DESERVED TO BE ADOPTED AS HE IS SO LOVING.

Max would also be a wonderful dog to inspire veterans injured in the war who have also lost a limb.

I want to also thank the Polk County Animal Services for keeping Max even over his time and doing such a wonderful job of saving him for this Rescue. They gave him all of his shots and even neutered him, so he would be ready to go. The kennel staff all loved Max down there and knew that he needed a new life. Thank you for Max. Thank you Polk County.

MAX was highly heartworm positive and had 2 sessions of treatment.  He had one with his foster family and after he was adopted, had to go through another course.  Even though it was hard to keep Max quiet, leash walk and no chasing squirrels, he made it through very well.   He will again have a check in six month intervals to make sure he is okay.

Max is now in Iowa and should be a happy camper with his sister Andi and his Mommy and Daddy.   Colder weather for him is interesting as he has always lived in warm Sunny Florida.
