CASE OF THE BLUES

<verse>

About a quarter til four,

I heard a knockin’ at my door

And crossed my fingers, hopin’ it was you

 But when I went to check,

Sitting there on my deck

Was just  another case of the blues.

<verse>

Went to the Saturday dance

Lookin’ for a new romance,

Thinkin’ I could forget about you.

But I should have known,

All I’d be bringin’ home

Was another case of the blues

<chorus>

 I’ve got ‘em (or “they’re”) piled everywhere,

In the corners, on the stairs

Each one comes with a memory or two.

Some with laughter, some with tears,

Some with dreams and souveniers.

Got too many cases of the blues.

 <verse>

I need some space and time

To get you out of  my mind

So I know what I’m gonna do…….

I”ll  call overnight express,

Give ‘em your name and address

And send you all these cases of the blues.

 <chorus>

That are piled everywhere,

In the corners, on the stairs.

Each one comes with a memory or two

Some with laughter, some with tears,

Some with dreams and souveniers.

Have fun with your cases of the blues

MUST BE THE RAIN

<verse>

Lookin’ out the window at a cloudy sky

Down below I watch people passing by

Young lovers, dodging raindrops, steal a kiss beneath the trees

And suddenly

<chorus>

I’m

Feelin’  sentimental, feelin’ a little down,

Can’t be ‘cause you’re not around.

Must be the rain

Feelin’ a little lonely, feelin’ a little blue,

But it can’t be ‘cause I’m missin’ you.

Must be the rain.

<verse>

Raindrops dancing on the window pane

The wind whispers your name again

Lightnin’ flashes, thunder crashes, teardrops start to fall

And through it all

<chorus>

I’m

Feelin ‘ sentimental, feelin’ a little down

But it can’t be ‘cause you’re not around

Must be the rain.

Feelin a little lonely, feelin a little blue

Can’t be ‘cause I’m missin’ you

Must be the rain…….

Feelin sentimental, feelin’ a little down?

It can’t be ‘cause you’re not around.

Must be the rain…….

<fade out>

Can’t be ‘cause I’m missin’ you

Must be the rain

Gotta be the rain

Has to be the rain……..

FEED THE FIRE

I thought I had finally learned

That if you play with fire,

It's gonna burn.

I knew I should have backed away

When that flame of love danced my way

<chorus>

But, I had to feed the fire,

build it higher, with desire.

There is no flame until You feed the fire

.

<verse>

For a while, the flame burned bright

Hypnotizing with its light

Then it flickered, and went out

Leaving only ashes lying about.

<chorus>

Cause we didn’t feed the fire,

Build it higher, with desire

There is no flame until you feed the fire

 <bridge>

Yes, the fire of love burns hot, I'm told

But, without some kindling, it grows cold.

<chorus>

Unless you feed the fire

Build it higher, with desire.

There is no flame until you feed the fire

Feed the fire…….feed the fire…..

Playing The Part

<verse>

On this stage of life and dreams

Do you get the leading part?

Who are the other players,

And is there a place for my heart?

Where are the words I want to say?

How does the storyline go?

Do I say you're just a friend,

And thats all there is to the show?

<chorus>

If this is just a play,

I don't think I want the part.

Its too hard for me to act out

The feelings in my heart.

<verse>

What is the role you're playing here?

Are you the star of this little skit?

Will you be my hero forevermore

Or love me then call it quits?

Or, am I the damsel in distress

who gets swept off her feet

And carried away by the hero,

When finally we meet?

<chorus>

If thats the way it works,

I don't think I want the part

I hate being the loser,

Before I even start.

What are the words that you will say?

Will you tell me you love me too?

Will you tell me that you'll never leave

And ask me to stand by you?

<chorus>

If this is the way it ends

Then I might take the part

It's not too hard to play that role

When its coming from the heart.

The BULL

I heard a story one time
About a friend of a friend of mine.
She rode a mechanical bull,
Thought it was cool,
And opted to try it again.

So, she jumped on the bull once more,
And said "Turn it up to number 4
She rode it again,
To the awe of her friends,
And as soon as her feet hit the floor

She exclaimed, "I'm still alive!
So turn it up to five!
She rode it with grace,
A smile on her face,
Said, "Me and this bull really jive!"

Now, she thought she was a big shot
Cause the whole bar was starting to watch
She said "Turn it to seven!
I Think I'm in Heaven!
So they turned it up one more notch.

But, this time, although she denied it,
She knew she shouldn't have tried it.
She held on, white-knuckled,
While everyone chuckled,
As she tried her best to ride it.

The bull, it went faster and faster,
And,she knew that this was a disaster.

As the bull twisted and spun
She came undone
And saw the crowd flying past her.

Now, the mechanical bull is still around,
But, the poor girl could never be found.

We think she's up there
In the rafters somewhere,
’Cause she never did hit the ground.

Now, a lesson was learned from all this:

and that is: I'd rather be kissed
by a good-lookin' guy
with stars in his eyes,
than a mechanical bull who is dissed

BEER

Note:  This is one of those songs that ya have to keep adding verses to:  It's never finished.  A good drinkin' song.

<verse>

There is something about drinking beer

That keeps me going, year after year.

I don’t know what it is that does it,

But, I know it does, because it

Chorus:

Goes in one end and right out the other.

Wish it wouldn’t, cause I’d rather

Be able to enjoy it for a bit,

Before I have to get rid of it.

<verse>

I’d love to take my girl somewhere.

Just me and her and a case of beer.

But just when we get out of town, and

Drink a few of those beers down,

Chorus:

It goes in one end and right out the other,

Wish it wouldn’t , cause I’d rather

Be able to enjoy it for a bit,

Before I have to get rid of it.

<verse>

Yes, it goes in one end and out the other

Makes me wonder, why do I bother.

But that is what beer is all about !

To put more in- you have to let some out!

(chorus again)

I WONDER

I wonder if there'll come a time

When I can leave the past behind

And go forward instead of going back

And get this weary mind on track?

I wonder if there'll come a day

When this old heartache goes away

And I can mark this old debt "paid"

And forget the stupid mistakes I made?

Will there be

A new start for me

Will I ever again  be

......................me?

I wonder if I can undo

This pain my head is going through?

And I wonder if it's really true

That my heart will mend with superglue?

I wonder if new love will grow

In a heart thats mended, though?

I wonder if I'll ever know

If the answer's yes or no.

Will there be

A new start for me

Will I ever again be

....................free?

I GOTTA DANCE

<verse>
Gonna find the best country bar in town
And have a good old time, gettin down!
Grab the best lookin cowboy in the place
So clear the floor, and gimme some space

<chorus>
I gotta dance, I gotta dance!
Dance you right out of my mind

I gotta dance, I gotta dance

Til I leave these blues behind

<verse>

Gonna two-step over old memories,
And waltz around the used - to- be's
Swing in time to a brand new beat
And I’ll let him sweep me off my feet

<bridge>

Line dancin’ or cheek to cheek

It doesn’t really matter.

I’ll just keep on dancin,

Till I’m feelin’ better.

<chorus>

Gotta dance, I gotta dance

Two-step all around the floor

Gotta dance, I gotta dance

Til I don’t want you anymore

<repeat chorus>

Too Many Miles

<verse>

I’ve traveled down this neon highway,

Shining with teardrops and stars

Looking for dreams, and someone to believe.

 Moving on with nothing but scars.

Each time I come to a fork in the road

I always choose the wrong turn.

Walking away from what could have been love,

Leaving too many bridges unburned.

<chorus>

Now, I’m standing again at the crossroad,

Knowing which way I want to go

But there are too many miles between us

And it’s a long road to travel alone.

Too many miles between you and me

And, I’m not sure I know the way

Too many miles between us

But, I’ll come, if you’ll show me the way

<verse>

One road I take will lead me nowhere

Except back where I once was….

Living alone in a house built for two…..

But safe, in my loneliness…..

I want to choose the other road,

The one that leads to your touch.

But there are too many miles between us

And I’m afraid that I’ll love you too much.

<chorus>

Now, I’m standing again at the crossroad,

Knowing which way I want to go

But there are too many miles between us

And it’s a long road to travel alone.

Too many miles between you and me

And I may get lost on the way…….

Too many miles between us

But, I’ll come, if you ll show me the way.

Comes the Dawn

The lights are off, the shades are drawn.
She sits in the dark wondering what went wrong.
Did she hold him too close?
Did she push him away?
Or was it just that he never really wanted to stay?

<chorus>

She knows its her fault that he's gone

She knows she'll never carry on

Without him, comes the dawn.

<verse>
The sun has gone down. Another day is done.
Still she sits, wondering why he's gone.
Did he find someone new?
Someone prettier than she?
Or did he really just want to be free?

<chorus >

Is it really her fault that he's gone?

Maybe she can carry on

Without him, comes the dawn

< bridge?>
Did she laugh too much or cry too much?
Did she need his love and touch too much?
Was her world too small, or her life too tough?
Did she try too hard, or not care enough?

<musical break>

<verse>
The stars are fading. Here comes the dawn.
Slowly she rises - her tears are gone
Along with the dreams
And the plans she' made
With a man she never really had.

<chorus>

Now she knows

It's not her fault that he's gone

She knows she can carry on

Without him, comes the dawn.

A Special Place

<verse>
Come with me, I'll take you to

A special place I know
A place filled with wildflowers,
Where a minute lasts an hour
and where no one else can go.

Where you can

Shed your coat of sorrow
And all the ties that bind.
Kick off the shoes of sadness
And run barefoot through your mind.

,<chorus>
Lie in a field of memories
Wash your tears away in the stream
Walk down the path to a brand new day
And climb in the window of a dream

<verse>

Come with me, I'll take you to

 This very special place
where time stands still
And the only thing real
Is the warmth of my embrace.

And we can
Feel the caress of a gentle breeze
Ride the wings of a butterfly
To a far away place that only we know
And become one with the earth and the sky

<chorus>

Lie in a field of memories
Wash your tears away in the stream
Walk down the path to a brand new day
And climb in the window of a dream

I WONT TELL YOU

verse>

If this feeling that we shared

Wasn’t meant to be

If the time weve spent together

Was just for making memories

If you feel it’s time for us

To go our separate ways,

Then tell me that it’s over.

I won’t beg for you to stay

<chorus>

I won’t tell you that my arms are lonely

When your arms aren’t here to hold me

I won’t tell you that my tears will fall

Every night when you don’t call.

<verse>

If this was just a resting place,

A shelter from the storm,

If the dreams and plans we talked about

Were words, and nothing more;

If you don’t love me, tell me now

So we can part as friends

We'll still have the memories,

And I'll thank you once again

<Bridge>

For the laughter in the moonlight

The Long walks late at night,

Holding hands at sunrise

The stardust in your eyes

Beautiful melodies

Lasting memories

<chorus>

I won’t tell you that my arms are lonely

When your arms aren’t here to hold me.

I won’t tell you that my tears will fall

And that I’ll miss you, after all.

<tag>

No, I won’t tell you, you’ll never know

How much I’ll miss you, if you go.

  A LOVERS DREAM

Today I saw a lonely mountain

Kiss a stormy cloud.

Tenderly he touched the face

That time had scarred with doubt.

Then, tonight, I felt you in my dreams

Reaching up to rescue me

From life’s realities.

You touched my face and kissed

 me like a gentle breeze.

A lovers dream…….a memory

A lovers dream……..my fantasy……….

Today I saw a storm cloud

Rain down on the mountainside

Pouring out old memories

And the pain she couldn’t hide

Tonight, I dreamed that I was in your arms

You were there to comfort me,

The calm after the storm.

Stronger than the mountain

Gentle as the cloud

A lovers dream – a fantasy

A lovers dream……….a memory

YOU'LL NEVER KNOW

If  the song of love we sang Was just a melody.

If  the dance of dreams we shared

Was only for  memories.

If its time for us to go our separate ways,

Tell me that it’s over,

I Won’t beg you to stay.

I'll thank you for the good times And the joy we knew

You’ll never know that I’ll be blue

You’ll never know, how I love you

If my heart was just a shelter From the passing storm.

If the time spent in my arms was just to keep you warm.

If that’s all there was to this romance

Then spread your wings and fly Let this be our last dance

<build>

I’ll wish you love and laughter And hide the pain inside

You’ll never know that I’ll be blue

You’ll never know how I love you

You’ll never know that I’ll be blue

You’ll never know that I love you
