Bud Smith was deputy Sheriff, and Jailer of Cobb County from 1945 until his death in 1954. Sheriff was Kermitt Sanders per DAD.
Known as Bud Smith when he was the Deputy Sheriff of Cobb County Georgia for 9 years.
My grandfather (JP Sr) and my grandmother Carrie L Vaughn were 1st cousins.

Grandmother Smith and Bud lived at the Jail behind the old Cobb County Courthouse on the Marietta square.She and Bud were the jailors. She cooked for the inmates as well as for the family.
They later moved to a Farm place that my grandfather had purchased to grow white faced cattle.
He died when the red clover was in bloom. The year before he was to put the cattle on the acerage.
This location is how a large shopping center ( ) off Barrett Parkway in Marietta, Georgia.
As a boy I played in the creek and shoot squirrels and rabbits on the farm. My uncle also shoot a red fox on the farm and my Aunt Bessie made a red fox cape out of it. You can no longer see the creek it is covered by asphalt and concrete. JP Jr. says the house stood about where the front door of Sears is now located.
As children the entire family went out to grandparents house after church on Sundays. We usually alternated between the McClure's and the Smith's when my parents were married and we lived in Georgia.
50th wedding aniversary in 1852 when I was 11. He died in 1954 when I was 13.
Per Dad Bud Smith owned and ran a Liquor Store North of Acworth a one time. He was a deacon in Methodist church and they got on to him and he gave it up Near Grizzletown..
