Where does the time go???
So I look up and it's been almost a month since I've posted here! How did that happen?

My attention recently has been monopolized by health issues. Not mine...my cat's. The poor thing has spent the weekend at the vet's, but hopefully I will get to bring her home today. I can't believe how much I've missed her, and it's only been a couple of days.

In other news..

We're going back to Nashville. Again. As I pointed out at the time, our inability to punt successfully has cost us big. The debacle in Iowa City meant that we didn't miss out on a conference title, but it really burns that the team we totally dominated, save one play, is playing in Florida in January and I get to spend yet another birthday at the stadium. Not that it's a bad stadium. I quite enjoy Nashville, in fact.

I have been remiss. Full props to JQ for becoming a Jeopardy! champion. OK, so it was only one win, and not exactly a windfall, but well-played just the same. I just wish I had gotten all those Barry Manilow songs back when I was playing.

I would also like to note a few recent tragic passings. Firstly, Richard Pryor. OK, this maybe wasn't a shocker, the man had been living on borrowed time for years, but what a talent! Possibly the best ever at just plain making you laugh out loud. He'll be missed.

Also missed will be former Senator Eugene McCarthy. I'm not quite old enough to remember the summer of '68, but having learned about it in retrospect you have to admire this man for the strength of his convictions. One of the quotes that keeps popping up in the news stories is very apt. He said "I'm sorry I was right" about the war in Vietnam. I'm sorry, too, Gene, and I'm also sorry that you were so scarred by the process of running for president that we missed out on the benefit of your wisdom in the Senate in later years.

Well, that's me catching up for now.
