Before the Second Deck was
added, some first deck construction had to occur:
§
The Engine (50)
was assembled and installed amidships.
§
The Forward Cabin
(48) was assembled and installed in front of the Engine.
§
The Paddlewheels
and Paddlewheel Axle were assembled and installed.

In addition, some work on the
Second deck had to occur:
§
The Second Deck
(50) was assembled from its three layers.
§
The Midships
Stairs (88, 89) had to be assembled and glued to the underside of the second
deck.
§
The portside
Paddlewheel House (61P) and the Aft Cabin (56) had to be added to the underside
of the second deck (but not the starboard-side Paddlewheel House).

At this point, the second
deck could be installed. The remaining
crucial steps were:
§
Added the Funnel
(73) and Ventilators (71).
§
Now that the
Funnel and Ventilators were seated properly below the second deck, the
starboard-side Paddlewheel House (61S) could be installed.
The
order of building and installing the remaining parts was not crucial.
