Friday Night Performance by Celeste Miller

How I Became God in Social Studies Class is an interactive performance piece by Celeste Miller that tells the tale of a real life artist-in-the-school residency with all the mishaps, challenges and minor miracles that inevitably take place.  In this unusual piece, willing audience members actually become part of the performance at certain points as Miller recreates the events that led to a high school social studies class to call her "god," and what happens when the god-status is challenged by a jaded senior. "How I Became God in Social Studies" has been performed in theatres and at Arts & Education conferences across the United States.  It is filled with humor, revelations and insights into the often invisible, but important,  work of artists working in schools across the country. [7 pm at Pinckneyville Community Center]
