I started taking my first astrophotos in 1989. While in college I bought an 8 inch meade telescope and connected it to my Olympus OM1 camera. Since then I have been hooked on this challenging and rewarding adventure into astrophotography. Few things inspire the heart and mind like being under a canopy of stars at 10,000 feet on a summer night in the Colorado Rockies. The MilkyWay is so bright it looks like a cloud overhead. Catching these moments of film can be difficult at best. The magic of astrophotography occurs when the camera lens is locked open and the film captures images too faint to be seen with the eye.

Most of my astrophotos have been taken with a Pentax medium format 6x7 camera. The telescope is a 130mm Astrophysics refractor on a modified Losmandy G11 mount. Guiding is through a 90mm Celestron and SBIG CCD 4 camera. Due to the lack of good astrophotography film, in 2010 I stated using a digital Canon 450d to take astrophotos.
