In the summer of 2008 I set out to build a Hi Fi speaker made with only the best parts. The frame was constructed with .75 inch MDF and .5 inch solid oak. The tweeter is a Focal TDX2 http://www.falcon-acoustics.co.uk/Units/tc120tdx2.pdf. The midrange uses the ScanSpeak http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=45_228_256&products_id=938. The woofer is 10 inch Seas http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=45_228_258&products_id=1599. The internal crossover also uses some of the best components including Mundorf silver & oil capacitors http://www.madisound.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=404_5_305_163.
Tony Gee from the Netherlands http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/ helped me with the crossover design. The result is a DYNAMIC and DETAILED pair of speakers that have a sound similar to the Wilson Sophia speakers but at a fraction of the cost.
