I've been throwing around the idea of knitting a Weasley sweater using Ann Budd's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns book. I have 5 skeins of pumpkin color (Autumn) Rowan Rowanspun Aran that I think would look great with a black "C" in the middle--Halloween colors. I love Halloween.
...even if it's on sale. So last week, before I went to the knitting happy hour at Whistlestop, I had to stop by Nest in Little Italy to see about this month long yarn sale they've been having. I only found out about it from the other
knitters at Claire de Lune at the Wednesday SNB although I vaguely remember running across the web site for Nest in the past. So I couldn't resist some
GGH Soft Kid which I've been wanting to try for a while. I love the pink color.
But then I saw that they also had the white for 50% off. So I got some of that. That's the stuff I'm feeling guilty
about, even though there are plenty of things that I can make with it, and, it was a good deal...
is finally available. I've been waiting for Wrap Style to come out for a while.
I'm not sure that I would actually make any of the wraps that are on the pages available on the Knitpicks web site (although some are cute), but I'm sure there is something in there that I'll like. I will probably buy the
book regardless of the fact that I have not yet finished the Jo Sharp one that I started from Scarf Style...
While browsing the Knitpicks web site I also ran across this bag which I'd seen before and would like to knit something similar in Elann's Den-M-Nit. I really just want an excuse to buy some of this denim yarn.
Meanwhile, I still haven't had the energy to finding out what's wrong with my Lace Wrap Cardigan...and this is all that I've done:
I think I've had to rip and re-start almost every right side row of the Wrapped Lace Cardigan. I always seem to end up with one to many or one too few stitches. At this rate, I won't be done for five years
:(
So I started "My So Called Scarf" with Debbie Bliss Soho yarn, and I just can't figure out if I like it enough to continue. I like the look of it with
the Manos yarn that's on the pattern page (I actually have the Manos yarn, in the that color but didn't want to use it
for this), but just can't decide if I like what mine looks like....
I've also cast on for the Wrapped Lace Cardigan from this summer's Vogue Knitting (with Berroco Denim Silk) and already messed up the pattern. I'm only on the third
row. I may actually not be able to knit this and watch TV at the same time. Hmmm...
I saw this at Costco and had to have it.... I've seen these in yarn catalogs before but they're always expensive.
This one was only $19.00 and I have my scarf yarn arranged by color for inspiration....I haven't knit with any of these yarns
in a while, so I need it!
I'm psyched to see that Knitpicks has several new yarn choices on their web site! I'm thinking that their Twirl yarn might be a nearly perfect subsititute for Debbie Bliss's new Cashmerino Astrakhan which she used for her cute cardigan pattern in the new Fall Vogue Knitting.
... from Elann. I did have store credit for returning some Katia Idea yarn, so that helps to justify it ; ) I've been wanting
to make the Wrapped Lace Cardigan from this summer's Vogue Knitting ever since I received that issue and have been looking for Berroco Glace on sale for at least as long. Alas, it's hard to find 14 skeins of it on sale, so I decided to buy Berroco Denim Silk in Acid Washed instead. It's almost the same gauge and is 80% rayon (Glace is 100% rayon), so I'm thinking that it should
have a similar drape. I wear a lot of blue so I hope this is something I'd wear often. Actually I think it would be great
in a light pink color, but again, the whole Glace not being on sale issue gets in the way....
I also bought the same yarn in the Raw Linen colorway to make Soledad from Berroco #234 which I love. And I got 5 skeins in Chipotle to make a tank top at some point....not real clear on the details of that
at this point.
