Morocco Itinerary

September 18, 2001

Day 1USA/CASABLANCA

For East Coast passengers, we’ll board Royal Air Maroc non-stop service JFK/Casablanca. For West coast passengers we do have the choice of connecting to JFK, or flying LAX or SFO/London then connecting to Casablanca & Marrakesh.

Day 2 – MARRAKESH

Royal Air Moroc arrives Casablanca around 07:00 AM, passport formalities then connection to Marrakech.

Arrival in the magical city of Marrakesh. Morning for Royal air Maroc arrivals, late evening for British Airways arrivals. Transfer to the 5 star Hotel Es Saadi.

For those arriving on Royal Air Maroc there will be time to enjoy some leisure time at the hotel pool, play a game of tennis, or visit the casino. Dinner will be served in the hotel dining room.  For the late arriving passengers, a late snack will be served in your room, as the dining room will be closed.

Day 3 – MARRAKESH (BD)

In our private air conditioned vehicle we will tour The Kotoubia, a former royal palace, which housed at various times, Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis, Winston Churchill and other famous dignitaries. This palace has also been the backdrop of many movies such as The Sand Pebble and Romancing The Stone. We will continue our tour through the many various sites of the magical city. Returning to the hotel for a tasty lunch. The afternoon will be filled with the sites of the labyrinthine souks, where you will be able to view the many local artesian at work and buy some souvenirs. We will make a stop at Herboristerie Avensoar, one of the local pharmacies, where we will be transformed back in time and given our own private presentation of mystical and magical potions to cure many ailments. Enjoy dinner in a tented oasis on the edge of the Sahara Desert and experience the real charm of Morocco.

Day 4 – MARRAKESH (BLD)

We board horse drawn carriages for a clip clop tour of the botanical gardens, including The Majorelle’s Gardens owned by Yves St. Laurent.

Continuing our tour we will go to the famous Djemaa el Fna, the square in the old part of Marrakesh. Other than the souks, this is where everything happens in Marrakesh. See snake charmers, acrobats, jugglers, storytellers, Fortunetellers, and a variety of many local characters. Lunch at the Al Fassia Restaurant that is solely run by the women of Marrakesh. The food is beyond description. We will return to the hotel for a rest and then class preparation for the next day’s spiritual experience. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 – MARRAKESH/GNAWA EXPERIENCE (BLD)

Morning is at leisure, sleep in, and enjoy breakfast at the garden café in the hotel. Explore the hotel gardens and shops and enjoy lunch by the pool.

Transferring to a private house to enjoy the Gnawa Experience. We will take part in a local preparation of a true Moroccan dinner followed by a spiritual Gnawa trance ceremony.

Day 6 – MARRAKESH (BLD)

Breakfast at the hotel and then a return trip to the souks to pick up items and the Gnawa instrument we were drawn to the night before. We will visit the pharmacy to pick up our orders and to purchase those last minute herbs.

A walking tour through the Medina, a local neighborhood in the Casabah. Our tour guide, Moulay, will explain the many local superstitions and architectural oddities of this very unique, yet charming neighborhood. Lunch at the hotel, afternoon at leisure for a nap or a swim. Around 6 p.m. return to the square, where it comes to its own in the evening. As the curtain goes up on one of the world’s most fascinating spectacles. Rows and rows of open-air food stalls are set up and mouth-watering aromas fill the square. This is the real Marrakesh, the smells, the sights, and the people. Precious few outsiders know what marvels or lunacies the storytellers are recounting to the obvious delight of the locals. Dinner at a local Moroccan restaurant in the Medina with belly dancing and all the local charm.

Day 7 – OUARZAZATE (BLD)

Early morning departure to Ouarzazate, crossing the Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’ Tichka Pass over 2,000 meters high. We will stop for lunch facing the Ait Beh Haddous Casbah, a huge fortified village protected by UNESCO, which served as a natural décor to many films such as The Mummy and Romancing the Stone. Afternoon drive through Ouarzazate and touring the casbah’s valley up to Tinerhir for dinner and overnight at hotel Kenzi Bougafer.

Day 8 – MERZOUGA (BLD)

Morning discovery of the Todgha Pass with its’ 300 mile cliffs hanging over the small river. Lunch in this beautiful picturesque surrounding. Afternoon to Tinejdad and Refou, then down to Merzouga to board our special land rover vehicle for the drive to our Bedouin bivouac. Dinner and sunset experience in the middle of the Sahara Desert. Overnight in Bedouin tents fully equipped with comfortable foam mattresses with sheets, pillows and blankets. Sanitary facilities available.

Day 9 – MERZOUGA/MARRAKESH (BLD)

Early morning spiritual sunrise experience with a 1,000 stars as the sun comes up over the Sahara Dunes. On our drive back we stop in Ouarzazate for lunch. Return to Marrakesh for dinner and a relaxing evening followed by journal sharing about our experiences.

Day 10 – MARRAKESH (B)

After breakfast we will have a class preparing you for the next days truly humbling experience. We will go over customs, traditions, and local mannerisms. Full day at leisure for napping, swimming, and catching up with each other. Optional photo tour available for ˝ day at $15.00 U.S..

Day 11 – OURIKA VALLEY (BLD)

Experience now the Berber way of life. Touring the Ourika Valley for its majestic landscapes, unique cliff style houses, local shopping and lunch at a Berber Restaurant. The afternoon tea with a local family is an experience all unto its’ own. These people are warm, loving and spiritually enhanced and will invite us into their home for the famous high tea ceremony. After this very humbling experience we will return to Marrakesh and the comforts of our hotel for dinner. Journal sharing and for those of you who wish to visit the casino the evening is yours.

Day 12 – MARRAKESH (BL)

Day at leisure. Optional tours to souks and to tie up loose ends. Additional minimal cost. Lunch at hotel. Class on Mind/Body/Spirit connection.

Day 13 – MARRAKESH/HAMAM (BD)

For the ladies ˝ day beauty treatment including: a hamam, a Moroccan steam bath, a massage, and a facial with renowned Swiss La Prairie method and products. For the men a visit to the potter’s district. Sorry guys!

Final journal sharing of all our experiences. Farewell dinner together at the hotel.

Day 14 – DEPARTURE (B)

After check out of our hotel we will transfer to the Marrakesh airport for our departure flights. 

                  

 

 

                                      Egypt Itinerary

October 22, 2001

Day 1 USA/Cairo

Board your wide body jet at JFK International Airport or       SFO/LAX (Air fare add on is $300 for LAX/SFO) Overnight across the Atlantic. dinner is served on board.

Day 2 - CAIRO

Our Cairo-based personnel will mee5t you at the airport and see you to your hotel. You'll have time to relax. (depending on the flights chosen) The rest of the day is yours. Fascinating Cairo awaits you! Venture out amid the spice shops, cafes, peddlers from bygone days, modern-day professionals, and an unforgettable array of sights, sounds, and aromas.

Complimentary Visa will be issued upon arrival at Cairo Airport for American passport holders. Passport must be valid for at least 6 month beyond the date of arrival.

Day 3 - CAIRO (aBL)

Today, we'll explore the wonders of the Egyptian Museum, with its treasures of the ancient pharaohs: statuary, precious stones and metals. Travelers have long come to Cairo just to gaze on these sights, but our day has just started. We'll take our lunch at a picturesque local restaurant. Afterwards, you'll have time to continue your explorations and some shopping at the fabulous Khan El-Khalili bazaar.

 

Day 4 - CAIRO, DAHSHOUR - (aBL)

After breakfast, we'll motor to the edge of Cairo, to the mysterious Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza. those who are fit and adventurous enough will be permitted to penetrate into the heart of the Great Pyramid, to the King's Chamber (or, depending on work in progress, the Kephren Pyramid). But we won't stop here. We'll continue to Dahshour, south of Cairo, where still more pyramids are to be explored. Among the monuments we'll visit is the Great Pyramid of Sendfu, the father of Cheops. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

Day 5 - BAHARIA OASES (aBLD)

Early morning departure to Bharia Oasis, relax and enjoy the healing spring waters, ritual and classes. El Beshmo Hotel or International Center.

Day 6 - BAHARIA OASES (aBLD)

Visit the new discovered tomb of the Valley of the Golden Mummies and watch the beauty of the oasis and shopping in the souks. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 7 - BAHARIA/CAIRO (aBLD)

Return to Cairo, always using the air conditioned, toilet equipped motor coach. Small fridge will be available on board with cold soft drinks.

Day 8 - NILE CRUISE/LUXOR (aBLD)

Breakfast at the hotel. Early morning flight to Luxor. Transfer to the legendary M/S Liberty. Afternoon tea served on the sun deck. Evening dinner and dance on board.

Day 9 - KARNAK AND LUXOR TEMPLES (BLD)

Enjoy a sunrise meditation by the Goddess Sekmet in the Temple of Karnak. Tour gigantic great Temple of Amon at Karnak, and the mighty Temple of Luxor. Cross the Nile to the west bank, we tour the magnificent tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and the great funerary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Clossus of Memnon. In the afternoon sail to Edfu after lunch. Afternoon tea served on the sun deck. Evening dinner and costume Galabia party.

Day 10 - EDFU (BLD)

We moor in Edfu, climb aboard horse drawn carriages, and clip clop through the town to the Temple of Horus, Egypt's best preserved. Re-embarking, we cruise down stream to Kom Ombo to visit its' twin Temples. Return to the ship in time for afternoon tea served as we sail for Aswan.

Day  11 - ASWAN (BLD)

We go by motor launch to the island Temples of Philae. Visit a local perfume factory and obtain a henna tattoo. Afternoon sailing by felucca. Evening dinner and folk show/belly dance.

Day 12 - ASWAN (B)

This morning we fly to Cairo. Local staff will meet you and escort you to your hotel. LeMeridian over looking the Nile.

Day 13 - CAIRO (aB)

Full day for last minute shopping and sight seeing, experience a water pipe at a local souk. A dinner invitation will be extended to you by our Egyptian tour guide and his family at his home.

Day 14 - DEPARTURE

Our staff will escort you to the airport for your return flight home.
