This is William (b. March 1902) and Charles (b. September, 16 1903) Apple in 1908, at the ages of 6 and 5, respectively.

During this part of the 1900s, boys and girls were dressed and groomed similarly until the boys reached school age (or older depending on how tightly a particular family held to tradition). Looks like William and Charles' mom was waiting until 1909 to get the scissors out and use them on Charles.

We need more information on William, or Uncle Bill. But Charles would grow up, marry Iva Butz Romig, and have three children. their pictures are also contained herein.
