A
Brief History Of Cortana Kiwanis
Cortana Kiwanis was founded
in 1977 by Dr. Mort Levy with sponsorship of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Baton Rouge. Originally chartered by the merchants
of Cortana Mall, Cortana membership has grown over the past 30 years to encompass many business professionals located
throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. The club meetings have been held at the Piccadilly Cafeteria located at 3332 S. Sherwood
Forest Blvd. since 1983. With a relatively young membership, Cortana Kiwanis promotes community service through meaningful
service projects while having fun and fellowship together. For over 28 years, Cortana Kiwanis Club has touched the lives of
many families in Baton Rouge through hand-on projects such as Christmas and Thanksgiving basket deliveries, Boys & Girls
Clubs, Northdale Magnet Academy, Bishop Sullivan Key Club, Pictures with Santa at the Christmas Festivities in downtown Baton
Rouge and many other worthwhile projects.

The Name ......Kiwanis
Kiwanis is a coined word taken from the language of the Otchipew Indian tribe, who lived
in the area around Detroit, Michigan, where Kiwanis was founded. The original phrase, “Nunc Keewanis”, meant “Self-Expression”.
We invite you to visit us. Cortana Kiwanis meet at 7:30 AM every Thursday
morning at the Piccadilly Cafeteria, 3332 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. Our members are more than happy to answer any questions
you may have about the organization and how you can join.
