How to Be a Sponsor

Holmes DNA Project

Welcome

The Holmes DNA Project has been established to allow interested parties to use Y-chromosome DNA testing as a tool in their family history research.

Participation in the project is welcome from anyone of Holmes or associated surname descent. Surnames commonly associated with include Home, Hume, Homes, Humes and Hoomes.

Since Y-chromosomes are passed from father to son, the donor of the DNA for testing must be a male of Holmes descent in the paternal line. Females and males of Holmes descent through maternal lines may participate in the project only by having a male relative of Holmes descent in the paternal line supply the DNA sample for testing. Further information on DNA testing can be found at http://www.familytreedna.com To participate in this project, please follow the link: “How to Participate

Please also see webpage on the Sponsors program that we have started to support and fund testing of key Holmeses who would not otherwise be tested.
