MORE ABOUT THE KIT:
AS MUCH AS WE LOVE OUR FACTORY FIVE RACING ROADSTER, for any of you that have ever ridden in the passenger
seat for any distance you have already figured out that ERGONOMICALLY speaking, there are 4 BIG problems with the std foot
box.
1. Your feet are almost as high as your legs.
2. There is NO place to put your left foot…
3. The passenger has to set pointed (twisted) to the right
4. The foot box tunnel is too short for most males…
What I'm doing is adding over 3 inches to the engine side of the foot box plus dropping the floor over 2
inches.
Dropping the floor 2+ inches helps #1 and #4 a whole lot.
Adding the 3 inches to the engine side of the foot box FIXES #2 and #3.
The combination of the two additions makes the new bigger foot box something most folks can live with, unless
their passenger is taller than 6' 3" and they go on VERY long rides.
After installation, you can look under the hood, and there is virtually no visible difference.
The kit will work with any headers/engine that does not extend PAST the outside of the 4-inch frame tube.
4into4 headers may be a problem... We are still trying to figure them out.
The kit is designed to fit in any FFR Roadster after kit number 1800, including the MKII which due to the
roll cage gives you even less room for your feet. THe very early roadsters had an extremely narrow foot box. We are currently
working on a version of the kit for the very early ffr roadster.
The original foot box front firewall is 11.25 wide X 13.25 tall. The front firewall of my foot box is 14.375
wide X 15.5 tall. The total area of the front of the foot box is about 47% bigger.
If you could sit in my car, THE YELLOW SUBMARINE, and a FFR Roadster with a standard foot box, you would
IMMEDIATELY recognize the difference in CREATURE COMFORT. Before, there was NO WAY to get comfortable. Now there is enough
room to be able to position and re-position your legs and feet in comfort.
Its comfortable, its ergonomic, its affordable.
The kit is made of 4 engineered, computer/laser cut panels. The .050 aluminum panels are pre-formed on press
brake equipment. Instructions on a CD will show you how to install your foot box in a new or completed FFR Roadster. The kit
will also include FFR Carpet to fit the new panels. (some modification of existing carpet necessary)
If you have the tools to build your FFR, you have the tools needed to install the foot box. A cutoff grinder
would be handy, but I installed mine with drill, a saber saw, a side grinder, a Dremel tool and a carpet knife
