Why am I such a Pittsburgh Pirates Fan?
Last Updated 10 April 1996

I grew up in
Murrysville, Pennsylvania (about 25 miles east of Pittsburgh -
off Route 22). Like most kids, I played baseball in the Little
Leagues and kept playing through High School and into American
Legion Ball. I split my playing time, mostly, between Catcher
and First Base. Unfortunately, I didn't have the talent to play
past that level. Now, I have to settle for being a fan and
playing in an occasional softball league.
I followed the Pirates through the late '60's and into the early '70's. They dominated the old National League Eastern Division from 1970-1972 while winning the World Series in 1971. You always cheer for the team that you grew up with, so that is why I am a Pittsburgh Pirates Fan.
Do you remember this 1970-ish Bucco logo? It is a photo I took at the Hall of Fame of an old On-Deck Circle.
Is there something here you like, that needs to be changed,
or would you like to see something that is not included?
