Glenn's Other Favorite Web Sites
Last Updated 23 November 1997
Here is a listing of some of my other favorite web sites:
Net Info and News
- San Jose Mercury News:
You can check the headlines for
free, but to get the full story reports, you need an on-line
subscription. This is a good place to check for late-breaking
news right before you sign off the net.
- Time
Magazine: The weekly magazine from your newstand is right
here on the net.
- Campaign Central:
Follow the action for the 1996 Presidential Campaign here.
This may be out of date, but I'll leave it up.
- CNN/Time Magazine All
Politics: follow the campaigns here too.
- NYNEX Yellow Pages: That
thick yellow book that sits under your phone is now on the Net,
but now you can sort the entries to find exactly what you want.
- Career Path:
They list jobs from the Boston
Globe, NY Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, and
San Jose Mercury News. If you are in the job market, then check
it out.
- Washington Post:
- The List: Local Internet
providers across the country.
- Netscape:
- Info Seek: Use this
site to search for 100 matches to your search string. Give it a
try!
Government Web Sites:
- The White House:
Stop in for a tour of the President's Home. If you have never
seen the White House in person (or even if you have), then take a
virtual tour of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. See the Blue Room,
East Room, the State Dining Room, and more.
- The US Senate: All
Senators have a page here. Most are a generic brand, but well
put together. There is also a brief history of the Senate,
information on the Legislative process, and Tour Information.
The Virtual Tour is well done
- The House of
Representatives: I have not explored this site much, but I
still keep in my list of bookmarks.
- Washington
DC Sight-seeing Map: All the high points are here.
- Internal Revenue
Service: look here for tax information.
- Social Security Administration
Maps
I haven't explored all of these, but they might be useful.
Finance
Other Stuff:
- Looking for someone? Try this phone book listing at
Switchboard.
- Composing Good
HTML: If you want to get started on
your own Web Page, but you are not sure how to start, here is a
source with very complete information.
- Roger Ebert's Movie
Reviews: from the Chicago Sun Times
Is there something here you like, that needs to be changed,
or would you like to see something that is not included?
