Cathy Barker discovered the Boundary Waters while living in
Granite Falls, Minnesota. Guided by her husband and wilderness mentor, Dick Weaver,
she began to understand how this place of beauty and peace could become one’s spiritual home. Captivated by the healing power of God’s creation, she returns again and again to seek the heron’s
balance. Cathy has served as pastor of United Church of Christ congregations
in Montana, Oregon, Michigan, Minnesota, and now Seattle, Washington. With joy
she sews and sings with Dick and walks Gracie, their “fur child.” This
is her first novel.
