This was for Ivette's baby shower. Since we know she's having a little girl I felt compelled to add pink chocolate bows to the balloon basket and her hair! This idea comes directly from the 2002 Wilton Yearbook p.59. I scaled down the design to suit my serving numbers and changed it to an all buttercream design (the Wilton version has fondant). I also added all edible decorations made from handcast chocolate (other than the balloons, ribbons, and lollipop sticks). The banner showing baby's destination is made from potato starch paper and edible food marker pen. This was only my second attempt ever at basketweave, and my first at vertical basketweave. It seemed a lot easier the first time on the flat surface of a cake! I was thrilled that Ivette liked the cake so much, and it made a nice centerpiece for the refreshment table. I hope you like it!
