This cake was for Evan for his 8th. birthday. I was thrilled when he requested another Lego cake and said he didn't mind what theme (his Lego cake last year was the one that started this whole Lego cake trend). They are quick, easy and fun to make. This time I found a couple of Team Extreme Lego sets that seemed to lend themselves to a beach theme. Let's be honest, I couldn't resist the shark! He's too cool. His mouth really does open and close. I wanted to give him a neat setting. This is what I came up with in the end. It's hard to see in the photos, but the one little Lego guy has spent a lot of time writing out "Happy Birthday Evan" in the sand with a piece of driftwood that he found at the waters edge. Most of the decorations are made from Lego's, with the exception of the palm trees which are handcast chocolate, the seaweed which is made from coloured white fondant using a clay gun, the driftwood which is handmade from chocolate fondant, and the chocolate rocks. Hope you like it. I really enjoyed making this one.
