This birthday cake was made for my brother-in-law Rick. He is a private pilot and avid outdoorsman. His request was for "the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River". That's what I tried to give him. I designed this cake myself and carved it out of 3 layers of quarter sheet cake. The rocks are actually made of chocolate too; they were imported from Spain. I have to thank Jeanne Gibbs for sharing her idea for sign making with me via the Wilton discussion board. Thanks again Jeanne for your help! For those of you who notice, some of the pictures have added desert scrub grass, others don't. In my excitement to have finished such a project, I took some pictures before I'd actually finished!
