I made this chocolate chip cookie for Brandon who loves basketball. The basic design is straight out of the 2002 Wilton yearbook (p.40), but I modified it to use the pans I had available to me. I also modified it to use the mediums I wanted to include - the Wilton version is made from cake, buttercream, royal icing and paper for the signs. I used an 11" x 15" base chocolate chip cookie with a half sports ball pan molded chocolate shell for the basketball itself. I also used white and chocolate fondants for the net and ball markings, and made the people in the crowd with molded chocolate. The signs were made from wafer paper that was glued onto toothpicks with melted chocolate, sprayed with Betty Crocker decorating spray colour, and written on with edible food marker pen. Other than the toothpicks it was all edible. Nonpareils add the little addition of colour around the crowd. I hope you like it!
