David loves chocolate - so that's what he got - a chocolate dinosaur diorama for his birthday (dinosaurs for a dinosaur as he puts it!). Everything on the cake is handmade and edible. The palm trees are pretzel sticks with royal icing leaves, the dinosaurs and "DAD" letters are hand cast chocolate, the rocks are chocolate, the volcano lava is buttercream icing and piping gel, and the drop flowers are royal icing. I had so much fun making this one. I have to say though, I felt the photos did not do the cake justice - I think it looked better in person without the reflected lights and shadows from the flashbulb! I'll have to work on my photography - that might be a new hobby!
