I needed to come up with a birthday cake for David and Kath. Time was very short and I was not in the best of health. My 5 and 6 year old volunteered to help out. Since David and Kath both love chocolate, I thought that this might be a winning design for them. I thought the idea of a chocolate basket made from KitKat's and filled with Reese's peanut butter cups would have to be appealing to chocoholics. The cake is a 9" round chocolate fudge cake covered with chocolate icing. I let my little one's at the cake after showing them how to apply the KitKat's. It took them 10 minutes to decorate. I'm so proud of them for doing such a good job. The thing that took the longest time was unwrapping all that candy to start with! They worked their fingers to the bone on that part of the project! I'm glad to say that David and Kath loved it! Of course, they are still both on a sugar high but should come down any day now!
