I asked Dennis what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday - he said he wanted a lemon cake. I took him at his word! I designed this cake myself and just used a Sunkist lemon for my model. I thought the fondant knife would be the logical accessory for this cake, and used my trusty wooden rolling board for the cake board (thought it would really look like a lemon on a chopping board then). The seeds are shelled sunflower seeds, and the lemon juice is tinted piping gel. I pressed a paper towel with the little bumps in it over the outside to try and give it a "lemon skin" effect. I was really glad he liked it. It's a reminder to us all - "Be careful of what you ask for; you may get it"!
