I desperately wanted to make a birthday cake for my sister Liz, but only had about a two hour window of opportunity to do it. I decided to try something along the lines of my first candy cake with maybe a little more elegance. This cake was the end result. The Pirouline cookie cake! Yes, there really is a cake inside there! I put the cookies all around the edge of the cake and let them poke up about an inch from the cake surface. I then took other Piroulines and cut them into one inch lengths to fill in the middle. The result is that it looks like a bundle of cookies tied up with ribbon. You could make this cake fit just about any occasion by your choice of ribbon. This was very easy to do and so quick.
