This is my first tiered cake! It was made especially for Evan who was celebrating his sixth birthday. He loves airplanes and Veggie Tales, so I decided to combine the two. The idea for a plane flying above the clouds comes from the 1987 Wilton Yearbook. The instructions called for windshield and propellor to be made from cardboard, but I made them from handmolded chocolate. It was quite a challenge since there are no premade molds for these items. I think it was worth the effort though, because they were the first things eaten by the birthday boy! I did not however make the Junior Asparagus pilot, he was a toy included especially for Evan to keep.
