| I designed this cake especially for little Reagan Elizabeth's Christening celebration. She is my newest and littlest neighbour (unbelievably cute too!). I wanted this one to have a more formal look than most of my cakes but still wanted it to be "little girly". This is what I came up with. The side designs of pearls and crosses I saw on an Earlene Moore buttercream cake but done in chocolate with bronze pearls (stunning) but thought it could translate well into white fondant/pink. She says that she got the ideas of the crosses from Colette Peters and called it "Colette's Cross". So a thank you is in order to both Earlene and Colette for the inspiration! The cake is covered in wedding white Chocopan brand fondant and the decorations are all handmade and edible. The cradle is made from gumpaste using the Patchwork cutters set. The little flowers are also of gumpaste and made in a rose mold. The pearls are all hand rolled Chocopan with lustre dust colouring. This was a cake of MANY firsts - first Chocopan attempt, first Patchwork cutter attempt, first fondant rope border, first quilting attempt, first pearls, first painting directly onto a cake with edible paint (letters), etc. It was a GIANT learning curve! I hope you like it. |
