Amy wanted a pony cake for her birthday - I thought she deserved a whole barn full! This cake idea comes from Debbie Brown's book, "50 Easy Party Cakes". I liked the idea of using pastel colours and flowers to make it a neat cake for a 5 year old girl. I expanded on the cake size by putting it all on a double layer quarter sheet cake - I needed to serve a lot more party guests than the stable alone would have served, and changed it into a buttercream cake versus the fondant cake it was designed to be (not many people seem to like the taste of fondant even though it looks great!). The stable was carved from pound cake. The flowers are royal icing, Amy's name and the sign are chocolate, the horse heads are fondant, and the rest is buttercream. Hope you like it!
