Judging by all the comments on the 50R web site, the perfect screen for our bikes doesn't yet exist. While most do a good job of keeping the wind off your chest at speed, depending on your height the turbulent air ends up at helmet level. The single most common complaint is how loud the wind becomes when this happens. Obviously, everyone is different - in height as well as sensitivity to noise and looks - so you might end up experimenting. BTW, as of May, '03, a number of riders have mentioned that the Givi A755 has done away with most of their complaints. YMMV.
Aeroflow – doesn’t make an 1150R screen yet, so check this again later
BMW has three models available,
the Flyscreen looks good and does almost nothings;
The Sport screen also looks good, and is a wee bit more effective;
The Touring screen is tall (and ugly to some), but seems to be effective for people under about 5'10".
Probably the most discussed item on our bikes. Ask ten different people and you’ll likely get 10 different answers. I’m happy with my stock seat (so far), but everyone’s fundament is different, so find your perfect seat
BMW – offers three seats: the standard, the “comfort” which is 20mm taller, and the "low" seat which is 20mm lower than standard. See them at any dealer.
Corbin – favorite of the HD crowd, located in scenic Hollister, CA
Rick Mayer – a son of Bill Mayer, now running his own seat business
Rocky Mayer – the other son of Bill Mayer, running the original business. Confused yet?
Wudo makes a couple of different heights and widths, along with an interesting passenger seat with a raised FRONT lip for a driver backrest
Wunderlich makes low, normal, and high (+40cm) “Ergo” seats. Exchange or outright purchase options
(If your bottom gets cold, Wunderlich makes a heated seat pad…)
Wunderlich had a retro "Seat cowl" that isn't advertised in the US. You can see it on the UK importer's web site, though. Replaces the rear seat with some storage capacity. Goes along in a motif with their fairing and front fender replacement.
replace the stock handlebar mounts on your bike, setting the bars both closer to you and generally raising them higher as well. This can help reduce the forward lean many of us feel uncomfortable with.
Verholen offers a very good looking unit that raises the bar 20mm and sets it 40mm closer to you.
Moto-Techniques makes their own with a choice of 5/8” or 1-1/4” setbacks. Both have a 1” rise.
Wudo has their version (which I don’t think is as good looking as Verholens)
RCU has two models: the high raises 1.5" and moves back 1.25"; the low raises 1" and moves back 1.25".
ThrottleMeister – a simple counterweight replacement that does wonders.
ThrottleRocker - a simple plastic lever that curls around the grip and provides a resting place for the heel of your hand.
Bob’s BMW has their own version, but you gotta download their catalog to see it.
Homemade ideas - if these ideas are all to expensive, try using one of those elastic hair bands to wedge between the rubber grip and brake lever housing. They come in various thickness, and they're cheap. Heck, if your house is like mine, they're all over the place! (sorry, hon...)
R1150GS Handguards - OK, not a control, but great protection in the winter or if you like to offroad your roadster - yeehaw! Some list members reported having to grind a bit of clearance for the brake lines, others have reported a simple bolt-on fit using a bit of twisting to clear levers and lines. Get'em at your dealer.
Verholen, maker of much neat stuff, has a nice aluminum shift lever adaptor
Moto-Techniques offers a nice rectangular CNC machined aluminum brake pedal which fits over the stock tubular one
Of course, Wunderlich has their version of the enlarger, which fits over either pedal
Wunderlich also has a side-stand enlargement plate, black anodized.
Jesse Luggage Systems has the Xtender for your side-stand, if you don't mind cutting your original foot off. They say for a GS, but no reason why it shouldn't work...
A simple (though not necessarily cheap) upgrade is to add on BMW K1200RS rectangular mirrors. At your local or on-line dealer.
Skyking Products has 3" round bar-end mirrors in either chrome or black-anodized finishes.
Saeng has rectangular bar-end mirrors that are convex for a greater field of vision.
Napolean mirrors. A link to an R1150R with one mounted for comparison
Wunderlich has a nice rear hugger in carbon fiber
Boxer Designs sells one, too
Pyramid Plastics has hugger in plastic or CF, available through the Pirates Lair
OK, not really a fender, but Wunderlich sells feet protectors that mount under the cylinders and keep water and air from getting your feet wet and cold. Not real stylish, but effective. (think mudguards on a car. Better yet, take a look at the link)
If the “beak” isn’t your style, check out Wunderlich’s stylish replacement front fender
Wudo also sells replacement fenders, both painted and carbon fiber
If you like your “beak”, but need more protection at the rear of the front wheel, Wunderlich has the “Extenda fender
Wudo has the same idea in CF
if your pegs are too high for comfort, there are a variety of options for lowering them and giving your legs some room:
Verholen’s peg-lowering kit lowers the pegs 40mm. They also offer a kit for the passenger’s pegs dropping those 65mm
Suburban Machinery has a peg relocation and shifter kit. Pegs move down 1.5”, forward .85”, and out 1.2”. Also a passenger kit. Speaking from experience with this kit, it's well made, but a bit industrial, and makes putting the center stand down a real PITA. Comfortable, though.
Wunderlich has Peg-lowering kits for both driver and passenger that lower 40mm and move forward 10mm
Wudo makes blanking plates for the rear peg attachment points, if you never carry a passenger.
Hawks Products has brackets that mount to the cylinders (top or bottom of the valve cover) in three different lengths, depending on your legs.
Burton Briggs makes some that are very similar. Some photos and an email. Haven't found a web site yet - if you know of one, pass it on, please.
RCU has three-bolt-mount that (to my eyes) looks a little more substantial. Available in silver or black.
CVM Touring Accessories makes the Elf-pegs, a neat product that hides the pegs when not in use by folding them into the spark-plug covers.
CycleGadgets has a new S-Curve highway peg that mount on a bracket fastened in front of the cylinder head, instead of to the attachment bolts on the side of the valve covers. Supposed to be more secure than the other varieties, but it's stated that it will NOT work on blacked out engines (ie, Yellow Jacket and Rockster owners are out of luck).
R1100Sgoodies.com has a version to fit the 1150R, made of fiberglass. Nice!
Gimbel has a small “bugspoiler
Boxer-Design has their “Radiator guard”, same idea
Wunderlich is the place to start if you want to trick out your bike with the high-tech Carbon Fiber look
Dash panel (they also make one in silver
Exhaust cover for the stock exhaust system
Front engine cover (they also have a chrome cover
Wudo also does CF
Oil-cooler cover replacements (very trick)
Boxer Design has some as well
Front engine cover (with an embedded BMW emblem)
A “Heel-protector” that looks to mount in front of the pegs (above the shift and brake levers
ZTechnik has a CF tank protector. Get it at the Pirate's Lair
MTec, a German company oriented mainly to the GS crowd, has some stuff for the 1150R, as well:
Another rear hugger
Spark plug covers in CF or stock BMW colors

Wunderlich has some nice fuel tank protectors, if scratching the tank is a concern for you
Wunderlich also has crash bars to protect your cylinder heads in case (knock on wood) you go down.
Wunderlich has a thick aluminum skid plate for off-roading :^
Touratech in the UK lists a CF sumpguard for the 1150GS that should fit an RR, if you like the style
ZTechnik has a CF tank protector. Get it at the Pirate's Lair
for those unfinished places on the body
Wunderlich has inserts to replace the black plastic plug under the handlebar bridge. You can get a thermometer or a BMW emblem to put in it
Wunderlich sells a silver anodized plug for that big hole in the footpeg mounting bracket
Wunderlich has chrome or silver caps to replace the black plastic ones on your Telelever mount
Boxer Design has a silver anodized cap for the Telelever mount with a BMW emblem in it
Wunderlich also sells silver anodized screens for the front of your oil-cooler pods
