Although the R1150R is sweet as-is off the showroom floor, there are countless things that are annoying, inconvenient, or just plain the same as on everyone else’s bike.  Part of the joy of owning a bike is making it yours by adding, modifying, customizing, or (in some cases) removing things from the Roadster.  Although lists currently exist for other models (in particular, RT’s and GS’s are well covered), this list is an attempt to narrow down things that exist for the R1150R.   Of course, this list will likely be out of date within a month of release, but as a starting place, it should get you going to the right places for just that special piece to make your bike even more special.

Also, remember that a lot of stuff listed for the 1150GS in terms of engine and exhaust will fit your 1150R, as well as much 1100R chassis (though not body)

Wherever possible, I’ve tried to link to the manufacturer’s web pages.  Most of the items can be bought at a number of retailers, and many times are less expensive than going direct, so shop around for best prices.  Remember, Google is your friend.  A totally incomplete list of the larger and/or more popular dealers is at the bottom of the page.

Sorry about the lack of integrated graphics - I'm trying to keep the bandwidth to a minimum till I see what kind of numbers this generates.

My thanks to the members of www.R1150R.net for both getting me started on this, and for supplying many of the pointers to products and most of the modifications.  If you have an R1150R (including the Rockster), or own a kindred bike (anything with a roundel on it qualifies), you should be checking the site out.

Happy customizing!

Jim

Note:  a lot of the coolest stuff is on German web pages.  Don’t let that put you off – browse through the pages and pretty soon you’ll be reading the parts of German you need to know.  If you need translations, try Systran’s web site – enter up to 250 words, or a URL to translate a whole page.  Or try Google.  Also, most German manufacturers have a US importer somewhere.  They may not show all the same items on their web site, but usually have or can order them for you.
