What Type of Business Will You Start?
When you run a business, what you’re actually doing is serving
your fellow man or woman in some worthwhile manner. You provide a product or service that’s needed and in return, you
get paid. The amount you get paid depends on the complexity, usefulness, and competitiveness of the product or service you
provide.
The question you want to ask yourself is not “How do I want
to create wealth for myself?” but “How do I want to serve others? How should I spend my working days in a way
that will bring value to other people?”
These are very hard questions for most people to answer.
If there is one universal statement that helps answer those questions,
it would be, “Try to develop your business around what really interests you.”
We all enjoy doing certain things, and often we become very good
at them. If you enjoy home decorating, you may want to start an interior design company. Maybe you love gardening and being
in the open air. A landscaping company could be the answer. If you’re a
very outgoing person, you may want to consider a business that involves face-to-face interaction with others, such as real
estate or insurance. The choices are many, but one thing remains constant. Developing your business around what you enjoy
greatly increases your chances of success. If you’re doing what you enjoy, you’ll be more motivated, and the more
motivated you are, the harder you’ll work, and why shouldn’t you do what you enjoy? You certainly will do a better
job working in a field you enjoy than in one you don’t. Wouldn’t it be great to make money doing what you love?
As humans, we each have unique talents and abilities. It’s
up to us to determine what these are and how we can use them to bring value to other people.
