Life is short ... fill it with those things that make your soul sing ...

For me, such a list begins with wordsmithing and playing music. I began my journalism career in 1982 with The Washington Times in Washington, D.C. Since then I've tried my hand at being a managing editor of several news organizations, and a public affairs director. It took me a while to remember that what I really got into the business to do was to write -- essays, short stories, novels. My current novel is "The Assassin's Dream," published by Five Star/Gale. Find out more and read or hear excerpts here: www.theassassinsdream.com Meanwhile, to keep the food on the table, I continue to work as a freelance writer and editor, and a copy editor at the Rocky Mountain News in Denver. Also, for four decades, I have been a drummer, playing and recording all styles of music, always reaching for tastefulness and honesty in my playing. For details and experience, please click "percussion" at the bottom of the page.
