Light/Butterfly Ops

Celestial Light and Butterfly Ops were posted online as separate stories, but are actually closely linked: the first scene in Butterfly Ops takes place on the morning following the last scene in Celestial Light. Did that confuse you? Try this on for size: Celestial Light started out under a different title, Fireworks, and, under that title won the 2002 Starcrossed Summer of Love June Challenge and Grand Prize. If this story seems familiar, it's because chapters 1-4 are essentially one and the same.
SUMMARY:
| Celestial Light: | A lot can happen in fifteen years, but some things never change. (Cue music:) "Met my old lover in the grocery store." ...Or something like that. |

| Butterfly Ops: | Fourteen hikers have been killed in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Their recovered bodies show no obvious signs of harm except for one big thing: they're dead. They're also covered from head to toe with mysterious markings. Turns out it's personal. |
WARNING #1: This is an extremely long fic, especially when you put the two stories together. As in 400+ pages in Times, 9 pt. Word count (for those of you who keep track) is 253,393, give or take. If you like that kind of epic thing, then come on down; if not, well, thanks for playing.
