: : : : Dear Question, Going Away, and Duh:

: : : : I have a question for you. Why don't *you* just go away? Duh!

: : : : Seriously, this is an incredible site, a stand-out not only among free sites, but among sites in general. It is created and maintained by volunteers for no reward other than the satisfaction it brings them and an occasional thank you from the regulars. If you want to go build a site you think is better, by all means, do... I'm sure the rest of us will manage to get by somehow without your company.

: : : : -- Laffman --

: : : Was I talking to you?

: : : GET LOST!

: : I'm not going to get involved in any bickering. I know that some people are quite upset about the crash and its consequences, and I'm certainly in no position currently to do anything to ameliorate that problem or help prevent it in the future. (If I was in such a position, I would certainly try.)

: : However, I would like to point out that when you post in this discussion forum, you are talking to _everyone_ who reads it. FYI.

: : JeffMo

: Sorry, but I don't agree with you "in totum".

No need to be sorry about that. I'm sure you're not the first, nor will you be the last.

: In my case, I was ANSWERING to someone's post, about a specific matter, and then comes up this Laffman with very unpolite words.

Your use of emphasis lends the appearance that you are attempting to inform me where I was previously ignorant. I disagree that I was ignorant about your motivation. I had understood the motivation which you set out explicitly here, and my answer to your question stands.

The nature of open discussion web-boards and Usenet is such that when you "talk," you are "talking" to everyone. Even if you _think_ you are "talking" to one person alone, others will (and should) feel free to interject their own thoughts, opinions, and comments. It's a consequence of the purposeful design of such systems.

In other words, while you may feel free to post imperatives intended to keep others from reading and responding to a particular thread, they may feel free to ignore your wishes and post anyway.

Finally, I don't intend to contribute to further discussion about who was or was not posting "unpolite words" in this thread.
