1758 MANUMISSION of a Black slave, Maria Magdalena. She was FREED and officially given surname KIRING DONGO (DONCKER?) in 1758 in Curacao by a “former counsel of this island...Nathanael ELLIS.” note Jewish spelling of first name.

Please note Nathaniel ELLIS marries at 25 y.o. and signs manumission at 69 y.o. may be error or 2 different persons.

No ages given for Maria Magdalena and daughter Andrea Genia.

Slave Register (in Dutch) search “dongo”

www.nationaalarchief.nl/vrij-van-slavernij/_engine/startup.asp

Also note Pedro QUIRINDONGO perhaps KIRING DONGO abt.28 y.o. (or not born yet 1863? - may be 2 different persons) at time of Maria Magdalena manumission.

Pedro illiterate and there is no way to know how his surname was spelled at birth (or perhaps MANUMISSION.) It may have been KIRING DONGO also.

Both DONCKER (a Dutch surname) and ELLIS (an English surname) are NOT known to be Jewish.
