Shabbadoo is a band that started as a one person recording project. It was around the turn of the century, and Memphis musician Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabbadoo found himself without a band for the first time in many years. He decided to focus on the recordings he had been making by himself on his four track tape recorder and become a one person band of sorts. He gave out copies of his six song ep "Built to Crash" to friends at Christmas, copied onto cassettes with another project called "Shmooze" on the B side. Redoubled came later out on CD and contained four of the six songs from "Built to Crash"

Jo Jo joined forces with Doc Shabbadoo and the two began working on "Hit or Miss" in 2003. When Drewbie Shabbbadoo came to the Minivan to record a few guitar tracks, the idea of a live band was born. The band began rehearsing and playing shows with Doc on drums(& keyboards), Drewbie on guitar (& keyboards), and Constantinople Shabbadoo on bass (& keyboards). The first live show also featured special guests Rusty Shabbadoo and Shamus Shabbadoo. In 2006 they were joined by a fifth member, Professor Jefferson Shabbadoo who brought his recording expertise to the studio project and began playing keyboards at the live shows.

In 2008, Drewbie and Nopey became busy with family duties assumed less active roles in the live group. Professor Jeff moved to bass and Lord Bowlsworth Shabbadoo began sitting in on keyboards. It was decided that the live show should focus more on an acoustic guitar driven setup (and less on having to set up so many keyboards). The set list and song arrangemens for the live act were reworked and the new show was dubbed "Shabbadoo 2.0".

Shabbadoo is currently working on their seventh record entilted "There You Are" and playing shows locally (go to our MySpaceProfile.to preview two tracks from "There You Are"). Shabbadoo's records are currently available at local Memphis record stores Goner and Shangri-la, and here on this page.
