Uhm, soon
When I was a little kid, I believed clouds were the thoughts of the Earth. I guess the idea spawned from cartoons or comic strips where the characters had balloons filled with words above their heads describing what they were thinking. Those balloons looked like clouds to me, so naturally I took the logical step of assuming the Earth was thinking when I saw clouds. Of course clouds were never filled with words, but that's easily explained by understanding that the Earth doesn't speak English. Duh.

The cloud-thought idea sure makes a bunch of sense. It even gives one a different perspective as to what the wind means or the difference between a thunderstorm and a light morning mist. But I'm wiser now for not believing such things...or am I?

I'm 32 now. While no longer a little kid, I'm still a musical infant. I've only just finished tracking my third album. Mixing won't begin until mid-September, so the album will be available early October. My apologies to all of you waiting. Many optimistic release dates have come and gone with no new album. I hope you will find the wait worth it.

The album is fourteen tracks long and clocks in around fifty-seven minutes. There is solo bass, solo bass with vocal, bass looping, and layered bass tunes. In fact every sound on the album is electric bass, voice, or drum programming...and sometimes the planes flying over my house or my neighbor's dogs barking. Each song has something to do with clouds. Sometimes it's directly, but often it's more like the cloud-thought idea from my childhood. Many times it's about the moment when staring at something I've seen my whole life, I've suddenly had a new way of thinking about that something or had a deeper understanding or feeling as to what that something is. The title is Cumulo.

Until Cumulo is released, you may not see me playing live much. Solo bass booking this summer was botched after losing a sideman slot with a regionally touring singer/songwriter. I turned down many solo gigs to fill my schedule with those dates. After the schedule suddenly became wide open, I didn't have enough time to fill up my time with solo dates. Even Cinetrope (www.myspace.com/cinetrope) is on a break until our lead singer, Sharron, gets married in October. Hopefully, by the time I make it back out on the road, you the listener will be ready for more.

Right now all new tunes are off my Myspace player, but there may be a few samples popping up from time to time. Until then, enjoy some tunes from green and equilibrium. While you're waiting for Cumulo, you can try to fill your time by trying to find a different way of looking at the same things that have been around you since you opened your eyes. See you soon.
