This is a loop song that I perform live with my Warwick Thumb Bolt-on six string bass, The Boomerang and a drum machine.
On the album, Hambone is playing B-3 and he also programmed the drums.
To me, this song mainly is about arrogance in thinking that I completely understand a given moment. It's a
reminder to myself that no matter how on top of things I feel or how close it seems that I've come to figuring something out,
there is an infinite number of details left unnoticed. So in the decisions of my life when I think I have the 360 degree
view of what lies around me, I think about that concept. Even though a 360 view might seem to be everything, in actuality
it's only a view of one plane. In other words, uncertainty in life is okay, because we are limited in our perception...it's
only human.
That thought is inspired by a qoute from Sir Isaac Newton...I'm slightly paraphrasing here, "After all I have learned,
I still feel like a child playing on the beach while a vast ocean of knowledge waits to be discovered." Crazy smart
guy.
I know, I know. I'm blabbing on and on about a vague concept, but that's why I wrote a song about it. I tried
to capture the R&B/Smooth Jazz vibe to make this seem like a love song. This would be my love affair with
trying to feel certain, confident, and in control of my life moment to moment. It's unsafe to think you're always in
the know. But that's just my take on the song....what's yours?
