| During one of our "educational shopping experiences", we learned about pearls raised in/by the South China Sea. "Black" pearls are naturally dark and can range in color from grey to black, with peacock green to aubergine shimmer. They are grown in saltwater oysters. Freshwater pearls are cultured in mussels, where growth between the mantle and the shell flattens their shape. | |||||||||
