Toll Road Elbert County Action Group Initial Plan of Organization and Action
Friday, March 04, 2005

Author?

The following is the initial plan of organization and action for the Toll Road Elbert County Action Group created at the Thursday 4 March 2005 organizational meeting. This plan is a living document and will be updated as required to accommodate new ideas and developments.

Goals:

  1. Stop the toll road. (?? Any better way of stating this??) [This needs to be replaced with something that is more palatable to the energized citizens who object to it. How about "We may not want to stop the toll road but we haven't met any citizen in Elbert County who wants it." OK, that's too long, but that's the idea. Jerry]
  2. Responsible development of Eastern Colorado.

Organizational Sub Groups:

  1. Research, Attorney, Legislative - Active.
  2. Local Level - Not active, volunteers needed.
  3. Inter County Communications - Active
  4. Media and Public Relations - Not active, but covered by 5 for now. Volunteers needed,
  5. Picketing, Letter Writing, Petitions, Etc. - Active
  6. Responsible Development Research - Not active, volunteers needed.
  7. Fundraising - Not active, volunteers needed.

Tasks will be assigned as needed within each group, but there are some mutual tasks that we are all trying to achieve:

  1. Stop the next bill from passing in the Senate.
  2. Coordinate information, both internally to the Action Group and externally with like action groups.
  3. Weekly meetings.

The Front Range Toll Road Co. Inc.

The Front Range Toll Road web page provides quite a bit of information about the planned toll road. It has a map of the corridor, but that map will be slow to download as it is a large file. As this web page appears to have been provided by the Front Range Toll Road Co. Inc., I suggest that everyone consider there is additional facts that have bearing on the issues than what is provided there. This toll road is enabled by CHB 1030, but the bill does not specifically say anything about the Front Range Toll Road. One gets the impression that CHB 1030 is crafted specifically for the Front Range Toll Road.
