This picture is of the cabin looking into through
the driver’s door. You can see the seat near the back of the
door. The seat goes forward and backward and the back tilts. The
seat stays in the place it was last moved only by friction.
The steering wheel is also shown. The entire column can be
adjusted, forward or backward. This feature helped two ways. First
it sounds impressive. “Adjustable Steering column” That
just has a good ring to it, especially with Lego models. Secondly,
it is a great cheat. Mounting steering columns is always a hard
thing to do, since the angle you want is usually very hard to get.
Lego is a great construction system, but it fails in the diagonal
or circle department. By making it adjustable, I did not need to
try to get the correct angle. The friction keeps it in the last
place it was set, so it just worked out great.
