Large Scale Models

    Of all the things that you can do with Lego, large scale model building is no doubt my favorite. There is just something about building something that is huge that really gets me excited. On top of that, trying to make the model realistic, and make it work, makes it much more of a challenge.

    With large scale modeling you also have to deal with engineering problems you would have never dreamed of, such as weight handling and piece stress. Until you have tried to build one of these models you really can’t imagine the problems with sagging and the stress on pieces.
    Of course the problem I most often run into is just plain running out of room! These things are massive, but you don’t just run the drive train through the cabin; it needs to be hidden. Hiding control rods and moving pieces can be a difficult task.
